John Aaron Chambers, 79, of Anchorage, Alaska, broke his earthly bonds on Apr. 28, 2025, to be greeted beyond the veil by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and parents John Chambers and Violet Folsom. Also, in line to greet him were his brothers, Russell Chambers, Chuck Chambers, Kevin Chambers, Terry Patrick, and Kim Anthony; as well as his sister, Cindy Alberthal. John was born in Pasadena, Calif., Dec. 21, 1945. He began school in a two- room schoolhouse in Wrightwood, Calif. He then spent a diverse life traveling the world and taking on many vocations prior to moving to Alaska to be near family and becoming a truck driver. John served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War (1963-67) for which he was very proud to be a part of. From 1965-1967, he served in Beach Jumper Unit 1. Beach Jumpers were U.S. Navy tactical cover and deception units which were organized under Admiral H.K. Hewitt, then Commander of Amphibious Forces and all U.S. Naval Forces in Northwest African waters and the Western Mediterranean. John stayed in contact with many of his Beach Jumper comrades and considered them true friends. John was proud of his Irish and Cherokee heritage and remembered every Irish joke he ever heard and passed them on liberally. John married twice, first to Star and then Gidget. He spent many happy years with Patricia (Pdee) Boudreaux until her passing in 2017. John was a generous soul and supported family and friends beyond their requests with their needs and desires. John leaves behind his children: Johnny Chambers, and Jamie Shehorn. He believed their accomplishments were extraordinary and loved them beyond his ability to express. His sisters, Carol (Chuck) Stielstra, Lianne (Maurice) Hopper, and Julie Foster. His sisters-inlaw, Pam Chambers, Stella Chambers, and Voriece Chambers. His dear friend, whom he loved and trusted, Lisa Blackford, and his favorite aunt - Sue Copinga. He couldn’t have been prouder of his nieces and nephews: Mathew Chambers, Geoffrey Pyne, Ryan Chambers, Chelsea Senn, Chad Chambers, Corene Alvarado, Corrie Phillips, Jeremiah McClung, Sarah Gonzalez, Johnnie Foster, Tommy Foster, Jamie Dues and Stacie Eckenstein. He had many lifelong friends who were also like his family. A special group of care givers from Home Care Assistance of Alaska saw to John’s needs in his last weeks, freeing up time for his loved ones to spend quality time with him. We will forever be grateful for their compassion, gentleness and kindest care of him. John’s ashes will be interned in Great Falls, Mont., beside his father and eldest brother.
